Life in jail for raping stepdaughter

A Chittagong court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping his stepdaughter. Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 judge Md Rezaul Karim delivered the verdict on Wednesday. State counsel Jesmina Aktar said the accused, Mosharraf Hossain Kabir, was also fined Tk 50,000. According to the case details, Kabir, in 2008, married his second wife, who had two daughters from her previous marriage. They had a son later. Kabir raped one of his stepdaughters in June 3, 2012, at their home in the port city’s Shoinar Tek area when his wife away at her ancestral home in Brahmanbaria. The mother filed the case a few days later, on June 11. Fifteen witnesses deposed in the case before the court delivered the verdict, according to bdnews24.com.
