Life insurers to provide coverage to wage earners

Life insurers would provide insurance coverage to Bangladeshi workers working abroad so that all eventualities including that of repatriation could be covered.
It was decided at a meeting held at the office of Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) to discuss investment and utilisation of insurance fund particularly life fund, says a press release.
BIA Life Sub-committee Convener Tofazzal Hussain presided over the meeting. The aim of the meeting was to explore the possibility how best the fund could be invested in national development.
The matter was thoroughly discussed and a committee was formed, which would examine the insurance law, investment guidelines in the insurance industry and how best the PPP could orchestrate.
BIA will shortly submit a set of suggestions to the government containing how the fund size, which the insurance sector would produce over the next five years could be invested in phases.
BIA Chairman AKM Rafiqul Islam, Vice Chairman Nizam Uddin Ahmed, Life Sub-committee Co-convener Md Nurul Islam, Prime Islami Life Insurance Managing Director Kazi Md Mortuza Ali, Sandhani Life Insurance Managing Director Ahasanul Islam and managing directors of other private sector life insurance companies attended the meeting.
