Lifetime of CNG auto-rickshaws to be extended

Chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Nazrul Islam said the government has taken a decision to extend the economic life of CNG-run auto-rickshaws from 11 years to 15 years. Communications Ministry issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday. Talking to UNB, Nazrul Islam said the government has decided to extend its lifetime as per the recommendation of Mechanical Engineering Department of BUET. “We’ve talked to the Auto-rickshaw Malik Samity Oikya Parishad and we hope they’ll withdraw the strike,” he added. No auto-rickshaw was seen plying the roads of the capital after the strike started in the morning.
