Lightning kills 2 in Sherpur

Two people, including a schoolgirl, were killed by lightning strike at Nama Koiyakori village in Nokla upazila in Sherpur district on Wednesday. The deceased were identified as Nurunnahar Begum, 45, wife of Shahidul Islam and Mamtaz Bilqis Begum, 12, daughter of Abul Kalam of the village. Quoting local people, Nokla thana officer-in-charge Golam Haider said when Nurunnahar and her neighbour Bilkis went out to bring cattle home lighting hit them, leaving both dead on the spot around 2:00pm, according to a news agency.
