Lightning kills 2 in Sylhet

SYLHET, May 29 (UNB): Two young people-- a boy and a girl-- were killed in separate incidents as lightning struck two villages in Goainghat Upazila Wednesday afternoon.
The dead are as Shahab Uddin (18), son of Azir Uddin of Khalarchari village, and Zarina Begum (15), daughter of Kudrat Ullah of Lengura Haor village of the upazila.
Witnesses said Shahab died on the spot when a thunderbolt struck him while working in the field in the afternoon.
Another thunderbolt hit Jarina almost at the same time while she was returning home from outside.
Fifteen sheep were also killed by lightning at Chitarai village of Goainghat upazila around 6:00 pm on Wednesday.
