Lightning, storm kill two in C’nawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Jun 11: Two persons were killed in two separate incidences of lightning and storm in Shibganj Upazila of Chapainawabganj district Wednesday morning.
The victims were identified as Niyoti Rani, 22, daughter of Anil Karmoker of Ranibari Chandpur village under Chakkirti union of Shibganj Upazila in the district, and Palsar Ali, 13, son of Chamatola village under Binodpur union of the same upazila.
Locals said, Niyoti was killed by lightning strike as she was plucking mangoes from an orchard near her house during thunder shower and storm. She died on the spot.
In another incident, Palsar was killed as a branch of a mango tree broke down on him while he was plucking mangoes.
