Lightning strikes kill 10 in four districts

Ten people were killed and five others injured in lightning strikes in Habiganj, Pirojpur, Chapainwabganj and Laxmipur districts on Wednesday, reports UNB.
According to reports reaching the news agency news desk, four people were killed and two others injured by lightning strike at Birat Haor in Ajmirganj Upazila of Habiganj district Wednesday morning. The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.
Police said a thunderbolt struck the six people while they were fishing in the haor from a boat amid rain around 9am, leaving all of them injured. They were taken to Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared four of them dead.
In Chapainawabganj, three farmers died and three others injured as lighting hit them while working in a field at Singaril in Nachole around 1pm.
In Pirojpur, two people-Asim, 35, son of Odhir Ranjan, and Rajib, 32, son of Shamir Mitra, of Kadamtala village in Sadar Upazila --- sustained injuries after being struck by a thunderbolt at Gensa Bazar in the upazila around 3pm.
