Linking theoretical knowledge with practical life

ONE of the main reasons why many students are not interested in reading text books is that they cannot link the knowledge of the books with practical life. Often they cannot comprehend many issues. Sometimes they ask: what is the use of this concept in real life? Or is there any real use of this knowledge in practical life? If not, why will I learn this? If students knew how to relate their theoretical knowledge with practical life, they would surely be more interested in studies.
Teachers have a great role to play in this regard. They need to be patient enough in explaining every issue from practical perspective, giving as many examples as possible from practical life. Learners love examples. They can easily remember examples. As they remember examples, they also hopefully will become interested in knowing the theory part. Thus, gradually, they will become interested in reading the books.
Parents and guardians also need to spend time with their kids. Kids often need to be taken to the outside world to understand practical life. They can be taken to marketplace, can be given some money to spend and then can be asked questions from mathematical perspective. The kids can also be taken to the fields and can be explained agriculture. They can be taken to some places of natural beauty and can be explained literature. If parents are often taken out of their homes in this way, they will get more pleasure in reading texts.
Today learners can also have practical knowledge from Internet, TV channels, newspapers and such other media. They can also develop their own contacts in different fields and can sometimes meet them/discuss with them over phone and thus have a good practical knowledge.
In case teachers, parents and guardians cannot show the kids the real life for certain issues, kids need to imagine themselves. For doing so, kids need to develop their imaginative power. Teachers, parents and guardians need to motivate the learners in increasing their imagination. The more the learners are exposed to the real world, the better they can imagine about the issues examples of which are not available.
When the learners will be able to relate their theoretical knowledge with practical world, they will surely turn more to text books. They will do good in studies. In the later stage of their life, they will also do good in working life since they already have good knowledge about the things will deal with.
