Liquoring types create stronger demand

Thursday, 28 January 2010

Demand for clean liquoring types was stronger this week but plainer varieties were often easier and there were fair withdrawals. Blenders/Packers were quite active with more interest from the Loose tea section of the buyers. There was again no buying on account of Pakistan.
Better liquoring Dusts had again a stronger market at dearer levels.
CTC LEAF: 25,951 packages on offer met with a stronger demand and prices advanced as the sale progressed.
BROKENS: All clean liquoring types had generally a firm market but newer varieties appreciated by Tk 1.0 to Tk 3.0 and these could be quoted between Tk 168 and Tk 172. Plainer varieties were irregularly easier and there were fair withdrawals in this category, particularly the poor liquoring types.
FANNINGS: Clean liquoring Fannings had a much stronger market and advanced by Tk 2.0 to Tk 5.0 and these could be quoted between Tk 168 and Tk 173. Mediums were fairly firm while plainer varieties were often easier with fair withdrawals in the poorer liquoring category.
CTC Dust: 4,438 packages and 7 packages of old season on offer met with a sarong demand at generally dearer levels. Good liquoring RDs/PDs/Ds were keenly competed for and were dearer by Tk 5 to Tk 10 and sometimes more with the best lines selling between Tk 175 and Tk 180 and at times more.
Medium and Plainer varieties sold around last levels in line with quality but poor varieties particularly the CDs had an easier market with fair withdrawals. Blenders lent more support with fair interest from the Loose tea buyers.
