MUMBAI, Sep 18: Bollywood actress Lisa Ray, battling an incurable cancer, last night walked the red carpet for the World premiere of 'Cooking with Stella' at the Toronto International film festival.
37-year-old Lisa, who went public with her battle with Multiple Myeloma, was dressed in a jewel-toned purple gown with a plunging back.
She mused about the big moment on her blog and found humour in the way her body was changing, calling the bloating that comes with taking large amounts of steroids her 'wetsuit'.
Renowned Photographer-turned director Dilip Mehta said his social satire places the uniquely Indian phenomenon of household helps and their relationship with their employers in a cross-cultural context. Toronto-born Lisa plays a Canadian diplomat, posted in New Delhi.
The actress, after a successful modelling career, made her debut in Bollywood with 'Kasoor' in 2001 and has featured in about a dozen films, including renowned director Deepa Mehta's 'Water', for which Lisa won the Vancouver film critics Circle award for best actress in 2006.
