Listed 'criminal' killed in city shootout

A listed criminal was killed and three others injured in separate gunfights between RAB men and two gangs of criminals at Agargaon and Mohammadpur in the city early Wednesday, RAB sources said.
Assistant Police Commissioner of RAB-2 unit Talebur Rahman told the FE that on secret information they had arrested Rafiqul Islam Panku (32), a listed criminal of Agargaon area, from Banasree in the city at about 2:30am.
Following his confessional statement, the elite force members along with Panku raided an area adjacent to the Agargaon Music College to recover hidden firearms.
At one point of the raid, Panku's cohorts opened fire on the RAB members forcing them to retaliate resulting in a gunfight at about 4:00am, the RAB official said.
