Listed criminal killed in Ctg \\\'gunfight\\\'

A listed criminal was killed in what law enforcers termed gunfight between police and his cohorts at Shamserpara under Chandgaon thana of Chittagong city on early Saturday. The deceased was identified as Arman Ali alias Arman Hazari, 26, son of Hafez Ahmed of the area. Nasim, sub-inspector of Chandgaon Police Station said acting on secret information that Arman Hazari along with his associates was gathering at a house in Chanmia Residential area, a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 4 am. Sensing the presence of police, the criminals opened fire to the law enforcers, prompting the law enforcers to fire back, triggering a gunfight. Arman was caught in the line of fire and injured while his associates managed to flee the scene. Later he was rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead. However, three policemen, including sub-inspector Nasim, sub-inspector Pijush and assistant sub-inspector Arnab Barua were also injured in the gunfight. Police also recovered three guns and six rounds of cartridges from the spot. SI Nasim said Arman was wanted in 30-35 cases, including for extortion, according to a news agency.
