A day-long international literature conference on 'African Literature in English' was held at the RC Mojumder auditorium of Dhaka University (DU) Thursday.
DU English Department organised the conference marking the completion of 50 years of the modern and classic novel, 'Things Fall Apart' by renowned Nigerian writer Chinua Achebe.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof SMA Faiz attended the function as the chief guest while national Prof Kabir Chowdhury was the special guest. Prof Khaliquzzaman Ilias presented the keynote paper on 'African Literature in English'.
DU Arts Faculty Dean Prof Sadrul Amin, English Department Chairman and council committee convener Prof Khondaker Ashraf Hossain and many eminent professors and researchers including two representatives from India and Kenya each addressed the conference.
Some 25 papers on English literature were presented in the conference held in five sessions.
