Live peacefully, President urges NRBs

President Abdul Hamid has urged the non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs), irrespective of their religions, to live peacefully in their respective foreign countries accommodating their differences of opinion.
The President was addressing a reception accorded to him by Kishoreganj District Association, USA at Gulshan Terrace near Jackson Heights, New York Thursday, according to a message received Friday, according to a news agency.
Showing tolerance to other’s opinion is a prerequisite to advancement of democracy, President Hamid said.
“The political culture in Kishoreganj is different from other parts of the country as the district never saw political violence,” the President said.
Hamid said he always did politics in Kishoreganj by maintaining good relations with opposition leaders. “In Kishoreganj, there are family-to-family relations among all the political parties,” he said.
“I’ve become President because of the major contribution of Kishoreganj people,” an emotional Hamid said thanking the Kishoreganj District Association, USA for according him the reception.
