Liza emerges champion

WIM Shamima Akhter Liza of Narayanganj clinched the Sultana Kamal 34th National Women Chess title with nine points after beating Mahmuda Haque Chowdhury Molly in the 11th and last round match at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall room Tuesday, reports UNB.
This was the 3rd national women's crown for Liza after 2005 and 2010.  Liza lifted the national women's title with nine wins and two defeats against Nazrana Khan Eva and Tanima Parveen.
WFM Nazrana Khan Eva of Manikganj became unbeaten runner-up securing 8.5 points with six wins and five draw. Eva drew her last round match with Tanima Parveen of Chittagong.
WIM Rani Hamid of Titas Club and WFM Zakia Sultana of Narayanganj bagged 8 points each. But Rani Hamid finished 3rd after beating Zakia Sultana by 2-0 points in a position deciding play-off match putting Zakia Sultana in the 4th place.
Last year's national women's champion Sharmin Sultana Shirin became 5th with 7.5 points while WFM Tanima Parveen of Chittagong became 6th with 7 points.
