Sunday, 24 June 2007

Second seed Ivan Ljubicic reached the final of the grass-court Ordina Open with a 7-6 (7-1) 3-6 6-4 win over Julien Benneteau in Holland, reports BBC.
The second semi will be completed Saturday after the players were forced from the court by rain with Peter Wessels leading Antony Dupuis 6-5.
In the women's event Jelena Jankovic beat Dinara Safina 6-3 3-6 7-6 (8-6).
In the final the top-seeded Serb will play third seed Anna Chakvetadze, who beat Daniela Hantuchova 6-3 6-4.
Ljubicic has the chance to make it three straight wins for Croatia, with Mario Ancic having won the last two Ordina Open titles.
"This is a great feeling," said Ljubicic. "The last final I played was in Rotterdam - I think the Netherlands brings me luck."
Jankovic squandered five match points in the final set before finally closing things out in the tie-break to reach her sixth final of the season.
"She was the better player today, for sure," Jankovic said. "My fighting spirit really helped me to win this match."
