Load shedding gets severe in Natore

NATORE, Apr 11: Severe load shedding is going on in the six upazilas of Natore district. The Upazilas are Sadar, Bagati-para, Lalpur, Baraigram, Guru-dashpur and Singra. Load-shedding has made the life of the local people miserable. Once the electricity goes off it is not restored even in four five hours. The situation is continuing for the last two months. Students, farmers and businessmen in particular are the worst sufferers. Farmers said, they have already prepared their lands for IRRI-Aman cultivation but they are worried about irrigating their lands due to continuous load-shedding. Storm kills old woman An old woman was killed and over 200 houses were damaged as nor'wester lashed scores of villages in Baraigram Upazila of the district recently. Besides, several hundred of thatched houses and standing crops on vast tracts of land were damaged and innumerable trees were uprooted during the storm. Sources said, the woman killed by the storm was identified as Joynab Begum (55) of village Purnakalas of Baraigram Upazila of the district. She was the wife of Shukur Ali at village Diargarfa of the upazila.
