JAIPURHAT, Apr 21: Load shedding is severely hampering Boro cultivation in Jaypurhat since over a month.
According to Jaypurhat Power Development Board (PDB) office there 3 MW electricity are available which is just half of its demand.
Resident Engineer of Jaypurhat PDB Tajul Islam and General Manager of Jaypurhat Palli Biddut Samitee Kazi Mohammad Ali said they receive only 14 MW electricity from the national grid where the local demand is about 30 MW. As a result, 12 to 15 hours' load shedding is continuing in the district.
Boro cultivation is running in full swing but it is very much hampered for poor power supply in the district. Farmers said this year production target may not be achieved due to lack of electricity supply. On the other hand, HSC-Alim equivalent examinations are going now. The students are very much suffering.
