Thursday, 27 November 2014
The list of loan defaulters both in the state-owned and the private banks has been getting longer since the abolition of the provision of loan rescheduling recently. Finance Minister AMA Muhith disclosed this while speaking with reporters at his Secretariat office. Responding to a question, Muhith further disclosed that the number of loan defaulters is higher in the state-owned banks, especially Sonali Bank. Asked whether the government will issue any directive to the banks to check the number of loan defaulters the finance minister said, ‘There’s no need for additional directives... the government is careful about the load default in the banks,’ according to a news agency.
