Local co to import environ-friendly chemicals from India

One local trading house said Monday that it would supply environment-friendly chemicals for textile, garment, leather and soap factories by imports from India.
Currently, the chemicals are being imported mainly from China and Thailand. Apart from this, local manufacturers Samuda Chemicals Limited, ASM Chemicals and a government owned company -- Chittagong Chemicals -- are producing the same. Israt Trading Syndicate (ITS) Limited officials recently organsied a press conference at the National Press Club to put out inform about their products.
An eight member Indian delegation led by one senior West Bengal province government official was also present at the press conference.
"Our imported chemicals have high quality and it will help save environment and hard earned foreign exchanges," said Sheikh Nadir Hossain, chairman of the ITS. ITS said it would market bleaching powder, caustic soda, sodium hypo chlorite, hydrochloric acid and others.
ITS officials said they would first supply caustic soda in the market because of its huge demand in the country.
It will procure the chemical from Durgapur Chmeical Limited, an West Bengal government owned compnay.
