Local co to invest $14.78m in Karnaphuli EPZ

Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) signed a agreement with Bangladeshi company M/s Vancot Limited to expand its garments manufacturing industry in the Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone (EPZ), said a press release.
BEPZA Member (investment Promotion) Md Moyjuddin Ahmed and Managing Director of M/s Vancot Limited Mridul Chakraborty signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations at BEPZA Complex in the city Sunday.
This 100 per cent local owned company will invest US$ 14.78 million to expand its unit and will produce garment items. The company will also create employment opportunity for 5927 Bangladeshi workers including 15 foreign nationals.
Among others Executive Chairman of BEPZA Brig General Jamil Ahmed Khan (ndc, psc), Member (Finance) AKM Mahabubur Rahman, Secretary Md Shawkat Nabi, General Manager (investment Promotion) AZM Azizur Rahman and other officials of BEPZA were present at the signing ceremony.
