Local firm signs deal with Korean govt company

Japan-Bangladesh Security Printing and Papers Ltd (JBSPPL) has signed an agreement with Korea Minting Security Printing and ID Card Operating Corporation (KOMSCO) to work together for security printing-related business in the country. In this connection a signing ceremony was organised by JBSPPL Saturday at the National Sports Council in the city. Chairman Salim Prodhan, Managing Director Kh Kamrul Haque Shamim, Additional Managing Director Jahid Hossain of JBSPPL and KOMSCO Chief Executive Officer Cho Byung Ho were present in the signing ceremony. Salim Prodhan said, they will import security papers worth $100 million per year. All kinds of security-related documents like bank cheques, certificates, pay orders, share certificates and mark sheets will be produced by these papers. He said KOMSCO is a South Korean government-owned security printing company which produces quality security papers. Cent per cent prevention of counterfeiting could be done by using these papers, he claimed. The chairman said a lot of people are suffering from paper forgery. The crime is increasing at an alarming rate in the country. "We want to protect the country from paper forgery and stop it in all stages," said Mr Prodhan JBSPPL, country's lone private security printing company, began its commercial operation in 2009.
