Sunday, 27 November 2011

FE Report Management cost of firms or organisations can be halved by using domestic software instead of one produced by foreign companies, IT experts said Saturday. Banking software costs range from Tk 8.0 million to 10 million, but this kind of software made by Bangladeshi firms will cost Tk 3.0-5.0 million. The views came at an exhibition organised by Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) on real estate software. BASIS is patronising the exhibition and such exhibition will be held every month in different sectors with a view to introducing Bangladeshi software to the potential customers. Last month, education-related software was exhibited in the city and next exhibition will be held on health software, organisers said. A total of 12 firms including 'DataSoft, Jaba IT Ltd, Bits solutions, IBCS-PRIMAX Software (Bangladesh) Ltd, CSL SoftwareResources Ltd, Star Computer Systems Ltd, IKARUS InfoTech Ltd, Accline, AdvancedERP and Talukder ICT showcased their software in the fair. Assistant Manger of DataSoft Abdur Razzak said Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) will help real estate firms to meet diverse demands of customers. If any company uses such software, his or her business will be more smooth and effective, he added. Mr Razzak said although his company has integrated solution, anyone can choose either full solution or specific solution. He said the cost of integrated solution will be around Tk 3.0 million, but it will vary on the demand of customers. Senior Software Engineer of Jaba IT SM Neamul Islam said this integrated system will help eliminate paper-filing systems and off-site storage, find information with powerful search capability and share information without creating paper copies. He said it will create archives and audit trails for compliance and disaster recovery and it is also securely accessible anytime from any web-enabled desktop.
