Discussants called for a long term strategy to face the global climate change which might give birth to collateral damages by leaving millions of people in coastal areas as refugees.
The speakers reminded about the aftermath of the cyclone "Aila" which struck on May 25, 2009 in Bangladesh and affected about four million people, breached 1742 km. embankments and left 100,000 people to live on roads or other elevated lands.
"Migration of people due to climate change and environmental factors have already been identified as a serious concern in Bangladesh and so immediate action and a sustainable strategy should be implemented to counter the future disasters" the speakers revealed at a seminar held in the city Sunday.
