Looking for steps to save the nation from economic crises
Friday, 5 June 2009
After a gap of long many years following our independence that we achieved but whose goals and objectives, in a real sense, to create a stable and healthy economy are yet to be accomplished, we are facing a lot of crises to meet the actual need of our countrymen in every sector. We can't think about, and implement, the real and basic requirements for such an economy, considering sector-wise planning and recognising the need for their proper execution. This is very painful for us.
As we know our country is earning a large amount of foreign exchange from different sources like exporting valuable items, wage earnings by our overseas workers commission receipts by businesses and foreign aid from different countries and bilateral and multilateral capital donors. We are also collecting (revenue) tax and VAT as domestic recourses but are sorry to say that we have no control over the powerful administrative instructions and supervisory activities.
We don't see any govt. official, particularly at high positions, being properly posted, and, thus, vested with appropriate responsibilities. I remember that one IGP was made the chairman of the BJMC and a Major/Capt. was placed as G.M of the Jute Mills. From the beginning, we have been witnessing such maladjustments and mismanagement due to wrong decisions by political parties which are supposed to be liable or accountable for their wrong-doing. As a consequence, we are not getting the real result now. What kind of development we have ensured to the people of our Bangladesh. Jute business, jute mills, cotton mills, textile & spinning mills etc., have been destroyed by the negligence of the ministries of finance, planning and industry. No proper steps were taken in due time to help sustain all such kinds of businesses. Such steps were, thus, very much essential and important for the reputation of our nation.
We had everything like land, manpower, natural resources, agricultural products, agrovged fish, food. But there has always been a lack of properly educated leadership. We do not want to suffer any more. Everyone should be a real patriot and should love the country like a mother we love. We should promise from now on to do a better thinking about running the affairs of the country.
We would at this stage like to draw the attention of the Honourable Prime minister and the Finance & Planning Ministers to give us a positive and pro-active budget that will facilitate and enable all types of businessmen, persons, and firms to successfully implement their plans for expansion and growth.
The finance minister should advise the bankers and the financial institutions to allocate loans to the appropriate sectors in productive ventures for supporting an economy that helps build the nation. That will help active the goals of Sonar Bangla which was the dream of the Father of the Nation.
