Loose tea buyers in usual strength

Friday, 31 August 2007

FE Report
The sale met with less demand and prices were easier all around, particularly for the medium and plainer teas and there were fairly heavy withdrawals. Blenders/packeteers lent a good support whilst loose tea buyers operated in usual strength. Pakistani buyers were virtually absent from the sale. Good liquoring Dusts were sold at firm-to slightly dearer levels.
Owing to difficulties in obtaining containers to Karachi, Pakistani buyers were very subdued and as a result, prices continued to decline over the last few sales with heavy withdrawals.
CTC LEAF: 28,193 packages and (404 packages of old season) met with less demand and once again at easier rates.
BROKENS: A small weight of well-made good liquoring Brokens met with a good demand and sold at slightly easier rates often by Tk 1.0 to Tk 2.0 and these realised prices between Tk 80 and Tk 83. All other varieties were easier often by Tk 2.0 to Tk 4.0 and there were also fairly heavy withdrawals.
FANNINGS: Well-made good liquoring Fannings met with a good demand at slightly easier rates. These were sold between Tk 79.50 and Tk 81.50. The remainder were easier with quality.
CTC DUST: 4,282 packages and (282 packages of old season) on offer met with a fairly good demand. Once again select few lines of well-made good liquoring types were sold well at firm-to-dearer levels particularly for the CDs. All others eased by Tk 2.0 to Tk 3.0 and sometimes more following quality. Blenders and loose tea buyers lent fairly good support. There was selective export enquiry.
