Loose tea buyers less active
Thursday, 22 December 2011
There was a stronger demand with blenders being more active this week, particularly for the good liquoring varieties. A bright feature of the sale was the renewed interest for medium and larger broken grades which saw fair price appreciation. Loose tea buyers were less active. Better liquoring dusts were a dearer market.
CTG LEAF: 35,195 packages and 630 packages of old season on offer met with a stronger demand at dearer rates.
BROKENS: All good liquoring brokens were a strong market and were mostly dearer by Tk 3 to Tk 7, particularly the BOPs whilst the smaller brokens also appreciated in price especially the good liquoring varieties which were often dearer by upto Tk 5 and these could be quoted between Tk 164 and Tk 170. Plainest also saw some demand but a few teas were neglected.
FANNINGS: Good liquoring fannings were strongly competed for and were dearer by Tk 2 to Tk 3 and these could be quoted between Tk 162 and Tk 167. Best varieties appreciated further mostly by upto Tk 5 and these could be quoted between Tk 168 and Tk 174. Plainer types were generally firm.
CTC DUST: 5,321 packages on offer met with a stronger demand at firm to dearer rates. Select few lines of better liquoring varieties were keenly competed for and were dearer by upto Tk 10 and more. All others were a firm market in line with quality. Both Loose tea trade and blenders lent strong support.
