Looted Sonali Bank money not insured

There was no insurance coverage for the money looted from a branch of the Sonali Bank in Kishoreganj last month, Finance Minister AMA Muhith told the parliament Wednesday, replying to a question from AKM Mayeedul Islam (Kurigram-3). Mr Muhith informed the House that the highest approved amount of money that could be kept in the vault of a bank was Tk 200 million (20 crore). "The amount that was kept in the vault on that particular day (of burglary) was Tk 24.41 crore," he said. — UNB
