Sunday, 14 June 2009

FE Report
An expert group will present a proposal to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources today (Sunday) to increase the power plant capacity and efficiency through using German-based software solutions.
The group consists of Supcons Ltd, IFE Systems, Bremen University from Germany and Star Consultants & Engineers Ltd from Bangladesh, Ali Akbar Khan, managing director of Star Consultants told the FE Saturday.
He said the members belong to a consortium have worked out a programme to increase the power production approximately 5 per cent of any power plants of the country driven by gas and coal by providing sophisticated software technology and management methods.
"The new technology will not need fresh investment in hardware areas while building a power plant takes a quite lot of time and money," he added.
He further said the proposed solution will bring a power production surplus of all existing power plants which is of an immediate benefit for consumers.
Within the programme a local expert team will be setup by training-on-the job and transferring the necessary technology and know-how to the local professionals, Star Consultants & Engineers Ltd sources told the FE.
