Lt Gen Abdul Hafiz made spl asst to CA

Lt General (Rtd) Abdul Hafiz has been appointed special assistant to the Chief Adviser (CA) of the Interim Government, Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus.
Mr Hafiz will provide necessary support to the Chief Adviser in performing duties related to defence and national unity development, says a circular signed by Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain.
He will be entitled the status and facilities of an adviser, adds the circular, released on Friday by the CA Press Wing.
Abdul Hafiz joined the infantry corps as an officer on May 8, 1977.
In 2005, he became major general of the Bangladesh Army.
He retired from Bangladesh Army shortly after being promoted to lieutenant general.
Abdul Hafiz became commander of an infantry brigade in 1999.
He was commandant of the Bangladesh Military Academy from 2001 to 2003.
He also commanded 33rd Infantry Division in Comilla from 2005 to 2008.
Later he served as the director general of Ansar and VDP from 2008 to 2009.
He served as the Chief of General Staff in Bangladesh Army.
