M-cap of top 8 Sensex cos advances over Rs 1.46t

NEW DELHI, June 8 (PTI): Top eight Sensex companies, led by energy major ONGC, added a whopping Rs 1467.41 billion to their market valuation last week.
Amid a strong stock market where the benchmark Sensex gained 4.87 per cent or 1,179.12 points last week, eight companies from the top-10 list of India's most valuable firms saw surge in their market capitalisation (m-cap), including RIL, CIL, SBI and L&T.
ONGC was the star performer among the top-10 firms as its m-cap zoomed Rs 733.63 billion to Rs 3969.75 billion. During the week, shares of the state-owned firm jumped 22.67 per cent.
The market value of RIL soared by Rs 177.31 billion to Rs 3620.16 billion, while that of SBI skyrocketed Rs 142.04 billion to Rs 2039.75 billion.
Larsen & Toubro's m-cap advanced by Rs 129.65 billion to Rs 1566.12 billion and CIL added Rs 125.38 billion to Rs 2469.70 billion.
