Maachranga TV lifts Pepsi-DRU Cricket crown

Private News channel Maachranga Television dethroned the reigning champion Daily Star as they registered an exciting 33 runs victory in the final of the Pepsi-DRU Inter-House Media Cricket Competition played in the city Monday, reports BSS. A superb exhibition of fine strokes from the willow of Zubayer with 32, Rakibul with 27 and Partha Tanveer Naved with 26 saw Maachranga Television piled up challenging 110 runs for two wickets in their stipulated six overs. In reply, Daily Star found the target too steep only to bow meekly for a paltry 77 runs for six overs for the loss of four wickets. The champion team became richer with prize money of Taka 50,000.00 and a trophy while the runners-up team got Taka 25,000.00 as prize money. Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad witnessed the final as chief guest and distributed the prizes among the winners.
