Machinery trade show begins tomorrow

The second International Engineering, Industrial, Solar Energy and Agricultural Machinery Trade Show will begin at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city tomorrow (Wednesday). ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd and Bangladesh Engineering Industry Owners' Association (BEIOA) are jointly organising the four-day-long show. About 100 industries from Bangladesh, India and China will take part in the event. Industries Minister Dilip Barua is expected to inaugurate the fair as the chief guest while Commerce Secretary Ghulam Hussain and President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) AK Azad will be present at the opening ceremony as the special guests. "The goal of the fair is to promote light engineering products in the country," BEIOA President Abdur Razzaque told the reporters at a press briefing at the conference room of the Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU). Mentioning that the country lags behind many other developing economies in advanced technology, Razzaque said, "Indian giant company TATA has agreed to make machine parts in the country under a join venture which will give as a great opportunity for us". The BEIOA president, also an FBCCI director, said the trade show will put on display the latest technological advancements of industrial and engineering equipment, materials, services and technologies in related fields from Bangladeshi and foreign companies. Nandagopal K, director of Indian company ASK Trade and Md Abdul Hakim Miah, secretary general of BEIOA, were also present at the press conference. - FE Report
