The madrasah students will go on an indefinite strike at all the educational institutions of the country from November 1, if the 'illogical' conditions about madrasah students' admission to seven departments of Dhaka University (DU) are not withdrawn by the deadline.
Madrasah-background students of DU also staged demonstration inside the arts building of the university Sunday to press home their demand.
Convener of the Committee to Protect Rights of Madrasah Students Md Moniruzzaman told reporters after the demonstration, "we would be compelled to go on education strike from November 1, if our demand goes unheeded within the timeline we have given the authorities".
Against the backdrop of strong protest of madrasah students, a meeting of DU deans committee Saturday asked Arts Faculty Dean Sadrul Amin and Social Sciences Faculty Dean Harun-or-Rashid to reach a solution about madrasah students through discussion with the departments concerned.
