Magura-1 by-polls on May 30

The by-election to Magura-1 constituency will be held on May 30, reports UNB.
Election Commission secretary Sirazul Islam announced the poll schedule at a press briefing at the Election Commission Secretariat on Monday.
According to the schedule, the deadline for submission of nomination papers is April 30 while the nomination papers will be scrutinised on May 4 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is on May 12.
The Parliamentary seat-91 (Magura-1) comprising Sreepur and a part of Magura Sadar fell vacant following the death of MP Dr Muhammad Serajul Akbar on March 9.
A total of 3,07,176 voters --1,51941 men and 1,55,235 women- are expected to exercise their franchise in the by-polls.
The number of polling stations is 140 while that of polling booths is 667. Khulna regional election officer was appointed as the returning officer of the by-elections.
