Magura AL factional clash leaves 30 hurt

At least 30 people were injured in a clash between two groups of Awami League over establishing supremacy at Bethulia village in Mohammadpur upazila on Tuesday. Locals said upazila AL general secretary Abdul Mannan and its Binodpur union unit general secretary Mizanur Rahman had been at loggerheads over establishing their dominance in the locality. As a sequel of the enmity, supporters of the two ruling party leaders engaged in an altercation at Bethulia Bazar today noon which later turned into a clash. A chase and counter-chase took place during the hour-long melee that left 30 people injured from the both sides. Some 25 houses were also vandalised and looted during the clash. On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control, according to a news agency.
