Mulder will lead the side in the 2nd Test starting July 6

Keshav Maharaj has been ruled out of the second and final Test against Zimbabwe following a groin strain. Maharaj sustained the injury while batting on Day 3 of the first Test that South Africa won by a massive margin of 328 runs, report agencies.
Cricket South Africa has confirmed that the left-arm spinner will be flying home for an assessment in order to determine the extent of his injury. Senuran Muthusamy, who has played four Tests so far, has been named as Maharaj's replacement.
Since Maharaj was also named captain of the second-string squad in the absence of several regulars, CSA have confirmed that allrounder Wiaan Mulder will be in charge of the team in the second Test, which begins on July 06 in Bulawayo. Mulder had an excellent outing in the first Test where he picked up four wickets in the first innings and followed it up with an excellent 147 with the bat.
This will be Mulder's first time of leading a team in first-class cricket. He has made 87 red-ball appearances, 20 of them in Tests. His only experience of captaining the team came for Leicestershire in the quarter-final of the One Day Cup 2022 against Kent. Mulder is coming off a productive match, scoring his Test best of 147 in the second innings to follow his four-wicket haul in the first innings.
