Mahbub, Rafiqul released

BNP leaders Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah and Khandakar Mahbub Hossain were freed from Dhaka Central Jail’s Kashimpur jail in Gazipur on Tuesday morning. Kashimpur jail’s Superintendent Jahangir Alam said the BNP leaders were freed around 11:20am. Family members and party leaders greeted the BNP leaders at jail gate. BNP chairperson’s adviser Khandakar Mahbub Hossain received bail from the High Court on Monday while on Sunday the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld the bail of Rafiqul Islam Miah and three other BNP leaders by dismissing the appeal of the state against the High Court order of January 21. Rafiqul was detained from in front of Sonargaon hotel on November 8 last year while Khandaker Mahbub was arrested from National Press Club in the city on January 7, according to a news agency.
