Friday, 5 June 2015

World Cup hero Mahmudullah Riyad has been ruled out of the Bangladesh squad for the Test against India due to a fractured finger which will keep him out of action for three to four weeks, reports UNB.
The all-rounder Mahmudullah sustained the injury during the day's training session at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) Thursday morning, reports UNB.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) senior physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury said, "The results confirmed a fracture on his left index finger which was sustained during fielding practice today morning."
"Such injuries take around 3 to 4 weeks to cure. He will begin his rehab under the BCB's medical team in the next couple of days," Debashis added.
Nasir Hossain has been called up to replace Mahmudullah in the squad, BCB confirmed, for the only Test against India starting at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah on June 10.
Another report adds: Bangladesh national cricket team ODI Captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza suffered minor injuries in a road accident near Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in the Mirpur area Thursday.
Mashrafe sustained skin scratches on both his hands and knee as a bus hit the rickshaw on which he was on the way to the SBNCS for attending the practice sessions at around 10:15 am.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) media manager Rabeed Imam said, "Several minor injury marks were found on Mashrafe's body after he fell off the rickshaw and got injured after the bus hit the rickshaw.  We expect he will recover within a week."
National team physiologist Bayjedul Islam Khan said,"The injuries were minor, he has suffered lacerations on his hands and his right knee has swollen slightly, he has been given medication and requires dressing on a regular basis, We expect him to recover in 7 to 10 days."
Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusingha said,"Mashrafe will be monitored closely until the start of the ODI series against India on June 18, but we will give him maximum chance to recover in time for the series."
The captain did not take part in the day's training session as he went to a clinic near his house, where his bandages were changed, after receiving first-aid assistance at the BCB's medical room.
The police caught the offending bus driver immediately. The rickshaw-puller was unhurt. The on-duty traffic police wanted to take Mashrafe to a nearby hospital, but Mashrafe opted to go to the ground where he received first-aid.
"When I saw the bus approaching towards my rickshaw, I jumped out in anticipation," Mashrafe said.
"Tyre was broken down and I tried to save my legs by diving out of the rickshaw, I'm very lucky to have escaped with only some skin damage," Mashrafe continued.
Mashrafe informed that he took the rickshaw to the ground, which is a 10-minute ride-distance from his residence, as the captain's car was taking his child to the doctor for vaccination.
