Mahmudullah ready for another captaincy stint

Shakib, who sustained an injury to his finger, is expected to be out of competitive cricket for up to three months which includes the timeframe in which Zimbabwe and West Indies will visit Bangladesh, with the two assignments running from October 21 until December 22.
Mahmudullah, who led Bangladesh in the home series against Sri Lanka after Shakib was ruled out due to injury, also continued to lead in Shakib's absence during the Nidahas Trophy in March until he was replaced by the experienced all-rounder for the later stages of the tournament, reports Cricbuzz.
"I have always liked captaincy as it's a challenging job and at the same time it's a huge honour," Mahmudullah told reporters. "I have always looked forward to it [captaincy] and if I get such an opportunity I am ready for it," said Mahmudullah.
Bangladesh have been hit hard by a series of injury concerns with other senior stars like Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim also joining the treatment table. Tamim is nursing his injured hand that he hurt during the opening game of the Asia Cup while Mushfiqur is recovering from a rib injury. Mahmudullah himself is recovering from a back injury but has insisted that he expects to be fine before the start of the series.
Mahmudullah sustained the injury during the tour of West Indies and later took part in the Caribbean Premier League and Asia Cup, where he is understood to have aggravated the problem forcing him to take complete rest at present.
"Injuries will be there and you have to play with it. Maybe it got worse after playing continuous cricket as I am feeling the pain in my rib area as well now," said Mahmudullah. At the moment I am feeling a bit better and taking rest. I hope that I will be able to recover in time," he concluded.
