State Minister for Home Affairs Shamsul Haque Tuku Thursday held a meeting with apparel makers of Narayanganj to discuss law and order in the sector.
Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) leaders requested the minister at the meeting to set up a fire service station and a police box in the BSCIC area and a police station in Soshangaon to improve law and order in both the areas.
The minister directed the local police department and administration to remain alert to maintain law and order in the garment sector, said a BKMEA statement.
Mr Tuku later inaugurated a BKMEA-sponsored rice distribution programme for garment workers at subsidised rate.
