Maintaining Ramadan's sanctity
Thursday, 4 September 2008
IT took me a few seconds to understand the title Pizza Hut's 'Eat as much as you can' offer again published in an lead English newspaper of Bangladesh on September 01, just a day before start of Holy Ramadan. The observance of Ramadan is to remain faithful to one of the five main pillars of Islam. It is a blessing from Almighty Allah to mankind revealed through Prophet Muhammad (SM) for developing the character of human being for its own good and the good of the community. And fasting makes us to feel the sorrows of the hungry and encourages us to lend our helping hands to them enthusiastically.brSo far as I heard, Pizza Hut is a renowned and familiar outlet among the many fast-food shops. It was shocking as I went through the detail and found that the offer is for the month of Ramadan only and, most importantly, the offer is valid from 530 pm to 730 pm, the time when most of the people will be busy arranging Iftar items and having Iftar. The noticeable point is that the Pizza andor Pepsi will be replenished to the offer-taker only after finishing it, meaning those are not allowed to be carried away. So, the question automatically arises, whom is the offer for and whybrMasudur Rahman MannabrStudent of MBAbrDepartment of BankingbrUniversity of Dhaka
