Maintaining standard of exportables stressed

RAJSHAHI, Oct 19: By ensuring proper standards, Bangladeshi commodities can get access to the international markets. Already Bangladeshi products of Pran, Bombay Sweets, pharmaceuticals or of Beximco and many other commodities like cement, batteries, electronics and leather goods are are being exported abroad. So it is high time, we should maintain an international standard of our industrial products and explore international markets. Otherwise, our import dependency will continue and development of our nation will be thwarted.
Speakers at a function organised on the World Standard Day held at the auditorium of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry made the above remarks Thursday.
Presided over by Rezaul Karim Sarker, Deputy Director of Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institute (BSTI), Regional Office, Rajshahi, Assistant Director( Material) of BSTI read out the keynote speech .
Assistant Director of BSTI, Alauddin Hossain delivered the vote of thanks while the open discussion session at the function was participated, by Mosfarraf Hossain Akhunjee, President of Rajshahi Babosayee Oikkya Parishad, Billal Hossain and Nuruzzaman.
They demanded action against those dishonest traders who are using Urea in Muri, formalin in fish and milk and hydrose in molasses. They also called upon the authorities of BSTI to improve their own standard of service.
