Maize cultivation target exceeds in Chuadanga

CHUADANGA, Dec 25 (BSS): The target of maize cultivation in the district exceeded during the current Robi season. The target was fixed at 35, 400 hectares of land brought under maize cultivation in four upazilas of the district. But farmers of Chuadanga sadar upazila, Alamdanga upazila, Damurhuda upazila and Jibannagar upazila were cultivated 40,680 hectares of land. An official source said 13, 000 hectares of land cultivated in Sadar upazila, 9, 500 hectares in Alamdanga upazila, 10, 680 hectares in Damurhuda upazila and 7, 000 hectares in Jibannagar upazila. The production target of maize has been fixed at 2, 64, 420 metric tons in the district. Of the target, 87, 750 has been fixed at Chuadanga sadar upazila, 61, 750 metric tons in Alamdanga upazila, 69, 420 metric tonns in Damurhuda upazila and 45, 500 metric tons in Jibannagar upazila.
