Majeed Khan turns 80 today

Former Minister for Education, Culture, Science and Technology ministries and Planning Majeed Khan turns 80 today (Wednesday), said a press release.
Majeed Khan, born at Faridpur in 1929, educated in Kolkata (India), London and Minnesota, USA has the distinction of being the first Bangladeshi to obtain a PhD in Sociology (1958-59).
Khan has had an illustrious career in research and experiment on rural development (in the USA and Comilla- 1959-64), development planning, higher educational development, in government and diplomacy.
He served as ambassador to France, Spain and Morocco and elected Executive Member of UNESCO and later Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to the same agency. Before joining the government he served for over a decade as a senior official of the United Nations and UN Population Fund (UNFPA).
