The 50th death anniversary of Major A Ghani, the founder of East Bengal Regiment and its sister units of Bangladesh Infantry Regiment, will be observed today (Sunday), said a press release.
On this day in 1957, Ghani popularly known as Tiger Ghani breathed his last.
Bangladesh government honoured him posthumously with the Independence Award as the founder of East Bengal Regiment in 1981.
