'A friend in need is a friend indeed'. If you can make books your best friends, they will be beside you in your difficult time and that would be a great asset in your life.
The more time you will spend with books, the better friend they will be in your life. So spend as much time as possible with the books-text books, reference and relevant books, self improvement books and the like.
Extensive reading and repeated reading of text books, reference books and relevant books will help a student perform better in studies. It is advisable that students read more than one book on the same subject, if available. They will get clear concepts through maintaining such habit. Students also need to read the same chapter again and again for deeper understanding of an issue. Such extensive and repeated reading helps a student remember necessary lessons during the exam and they can write answers more comfortably. When you will grow such reading habit, you will be spending more time with the books and books will then turn to be your best friends.
While appearing in exams, some students expect help from fellow examinees. If fellow examinees do not help them, they take it otherwise. They think those who have not helped them during exams are not friendly. If they would make books their best friends, they would not have to expect help from fellow examinees, rather their preparation would be good and they could be at ease in answering the questions.
While text books and reference books will make you prepared for the exams and obtain good academic degrees, reading self improvement books will help you recover yourself from a crisis situation in your life. When you are in difficult situation, you will understand better how to overcome the problem. You will see several options to solve the problem and you will take the best possible measure. Making books your best friends thus help you in earning your livelihood and ensures your mental and physical well-being.
When you have made books your best friends, you will gain required knowledge and that will help you talk to your fellow classmates and teachers more confidently. If you are a professional, you will talk more confidentially with your superiors and colleagues. You will be a person of attraction to others.
How to make books your best friends? Love books. Touch them everyday. Keep them in an orderly manner on the book shelf or alternatively on the table. Spend time in reading them. Dr. Muhammammad Shahiddullah used to study around 16 hours everyday and he was known as a world-famous scholar. Have interaction with those friends of yours as much as possible who love to read books, discuss with them about the books you are reading and the books they are reading. Also, visit library as often as possible. Since everyone in the library is seen to be reading, you will also feel like reading.
You might not get your friends all the time beside you, but books will be always with you, both in your good and bad time, and will give you the right direction in your life.
