Make healthy film to restore image of FDC: Info secy

Secretary for Information Jamil Osman Saturday urged all concerned of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) to make good and healthy films in order to restore the image of the industry, reports BSS.

The information secretary said the trend of making healthy films has returned in the FDC due to concerted efforts of the government, the film producers and the artistes.

He said this while inaugurating the day-long Film Fair-2008 jointly organised by BFDC and Channel-i on the FDC premises in the city as the chief guest.

Secretary for Home Affairs Mohammad Abdul Karim, FDC Managing Director ANM Badrul Amin, Channel-i Managing Director Faridur Reza Sagar, poet Syed Shamsul Haque and eminent film actor Razzak spoke at the function.

Film personalities, producers were present on the occasion.

Osman said the film fair will help create healthy films in the country.

He called upon the concerned organisations and people to take initiative to organise such film fairs which will inspire artistes and producers for making decent films.

The home secretary said the government along with the film producers and artistes were working to stop producing vulgar films.

He stressed the need for taking concerted efforts to make good films to achieve fame in the national and the international arena.

Razzak said the film industry has lost its glory during the last two decades as vulgarity had made its way in films.

He said the film industry got a new life as vulgarism has been disappearing from the industry to a great extent following strict measures taken by the government as well as the artistes and the producers.

Various stalls related to the film industry were set up in the fair.

The discussion was followed by a cultural function participated by noted artistes.
