Making Dhaka more liveable -

Saturday, 7 May 2022

As citizens of a city, everyone should abide by the laws and ensure that one's behaviour is not causing trouble for another. This is nothing but a pure civic sense. It refers to respect for law and maintenance of acceptable etiquette when interacting with others. Unfortunately, nowadays, people deliberately disregard basic etiquette norms. No one seems to be willing to follow the rules and regulations. Everyone is now in a rush to reach their destinations as they blare horns and overtake other vehicles, causing havoc on the roads. Despite the presence of the traffic police, many drivers continue speeding, which poses a risk to their own as well as others' lives. Across Dhaka city, foot over-bridges are scarce and in extremely poor conditions. Additionally, people dispose of garbage on the roads and most public places do not have dustbins because of which every corner of the capital is littered.
The city corporation authorities should install more garbage cans across the capital. Waste should be removed from the pavements to ensure a clean and hygienic environment. Also, the authorities should ensure that the traffic police enforce orderliness on roads. We, as conscious citizens, must follow those laws wholeheartedly to make Dhaka more liveable for all.
