National Housing Finance and Investment Ltd (NHFIL) celebrates its 25th anniversary today.
A specialised financial institution, NHFIL has been committed to providing accessible and affordable housing solutions to individuals and families across the country. With a branch network and a customer-centric approach, the institution aims to empower people to achieve their dreams of homeownership while promoting financial inclusion and environmental sustainability.


Its lending programmes are designed to cater to diverse needs, offering a range of financing options to prospective homeowners. Whether it is facilitating the purchase of flats or providing financial support to build houses, the institution's customized solutions have positively impacted the lives of numerous families. NHFIL is operating through 10 branches (Motijheel, Gulshan, Kawran Bazar, Gazipur, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Bogura, Rangpur, Khulna, Feni) and three sales offices (Uttara, Mirpur, Narayanganj) around the country.
Over the years, the institution has remained true to its core values of integrity, transparency, and customer-centricity, making homeownership a reality for countless families.
Through responsible and transparent lending practices and conscious initiatives, National Housing has played a pivotal role in uplifting communities and driving economic growth.
In 1998, twenty-five years ago, NHFIL embarked on a bold vision to create a financial institution that would not only serve as a safe haven for our customers' hard-earned money but also as a catalyst for economic growth and development in our community. It is owned by 15 renowned corporate shareholders, seven insurance companies and five corporate/business groups.
Mr Motiul Islam, the first finance secretary of Bangladesh, A legendary figure of the country, was the founder Chairman of NHFIL. Thereafter, Mr M Haider Chowdhury became the chairman of the company. Mr Latifur Rahman, a visionary legend of the corporate world remained chairman of the company for 11 years.
The present Chairman, Mr Mahbubur Rahman, who is also the President of International Chamber of Commerce-Bangladesh, is now steering NHFIL towards prosperity.
Mr Mohammad Shamsul Islam, the present managing director of NHFIL, has taken various steps to take the company to a new height. NHFIL, a company listed on the Dhaka Stock Exchange, is also going to open Islamic Banking wing very shortly.
